" Having spent much of my time on the farm as a youth it seemed an easy choice to focus on rural landscape and domestic animals as subject matter. Choosing to paint cattle and landscapes also allows me to spend time in rural settings to sketch, gather reference material and recall many great memories."

Stan had an early interest in art and by age six was spending time drawing. An interest in drafting and commercial art during high school helped to further his knowledge and skill. With some encouragement from a high school art teacher Stan pursued a career as a sign writer.

After graduating from Grant Macewan's environmental design program he was employed by a small sign/ graphics company for nine years and continued to draw after hours.

Stan has taken a break from painting over the past few years, started a new business (Rosewood Renovations & Woodworking), renovated a few homes, built some furniture and spent as much time as possible fly fishing and tying flies.
